Gabe Does Music

Hello!

 

My name is Gabriel Byrd, but most people just call me Gabe. I’m a self-taught music producer and filmmaker currently located in Chicago, Illinois.

 

I’ve been learning as much as I can about both crafts since 2017, though I’ve slowly transitioned to predominantly working with music. I believe my work doesn’t neatly fit into one specific genre, nor do I claim a favorite genre to work with; however, my more recent projects have been more orchestrally and electronically driven. 

 

In addition to making music, I also love talking about it! On my weekly radio show, “Gabe’s Album Review,” I’m able to do just that. I listen through an entire album, rank songs using my personal ranking system, and dissect the songs down to a production level, adding in my own input as to how I think songs were made. 

 

Regarding film, I love a good documentary. They’re one of my favorite genres to watch and definitely my favorite to make. Since I’m no longer heading my own productions, I’ve taken to sound engineering and composition for smaller projects. 

 

At the end of the day, my goal is to both make something that I enjoy creating but also make something that can change people’s days for the better. I believe music is a universal language, and hope my work talks the talk.
